If you graduate high school in the spring of 2027, you are the class of 2027 and your signing year is the 2026-27 cycle. National Signing Day for the class of 2027 is Wednesday, November 11, 2026 for every NCAA Division I and Division II sport except football, and the period stays open through August 1, 2027.
Football is the one exception. Its early signing period runs December 2 to 4, 2026, and the traditional National Signing Day, the first Wednesday in February, is February 3, 2027, with the regular period open until April 1. Basketball shares the November week but also has a regular period from April 14 to May 19, 2027.
If you graduated in 2026, the class of 2026 dates have passed; this page is the 2026-27 calendar. Division III has no signing day at all, and NAIA and junior college programs use their own letters on their own schedule, so if that is you, your coach sets the date. Four dates to know
November 11, 2026: everything but football
Baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, golf, tennis, swimming, track, wrestling, hockey and every other D1 and D2 sport opens on this Wednesday. Most athletes who committed early sign in the first week.
December 2 to 4, 2026: football early period
Three days in which most Power Four classes are effectively complete. Junior-college mid-year transfers can sign from December 2 through January 15.
February 3, 2027: football National Signing Day
The traditional first Wednesday in February. The regular football period stays open to April 1 for late decisions and flips.
April 14 to May 19, 2027: basketball regular period
Spring is for late decisions, reclassifications and junior-college transfers. Every other sport simply stays open until August 1, 2027.
Signing, explained
The National Letter of Intent ended in October 2024. A signing is now the written offer of athletic aid, plus any institutional agreement the school uses. It still binds the school to the scholarship.
Division I and II recruits with a written offer. Division III athletes do not sign; their commitment is the admission letter and the roster spot, with an optional celebratory form after admission.
Do not post SIGNED until the paperwork is in. Most programs ask you to wait for the compliance office to confirm, which can be the same afternoon or a few days later.

Baseball and softball
One period, November 11, 2026 to August 1, 2027, for Division I and II. Most senior commits sign in the first week; junior-college and late commits sign through the spring, and a May or June signing is normal for small programs.
Basketball
An early week from November 11 to 18, 2026, when most high-major recruits sign, and a regular period from April 14 to May 19, 2027. Division II basketball signs from November 11 with the other D2 sports.
Football
Early period December 2 to 4, 2026, then National Signing Day on February 3, 2027 with the period open until April 1. Division II football follows the same windows.
Soccer, lacrosse, volleyball and every other sport
November 11, 2026 through August 1, 2027. Because these sports recruit early, many athletes who committed as sophomores or juniors sign in that first week and post a SIGNED graphic to go with the COMMITTED one from years earlier.
D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO
Division II uses the same dates as Division I: November 11, 2026 for every sport except football, and the December and February windows for football. D2 rosters fill later, so signings continue through the spring and summer.
Division III has no athletic scholarships and no signing period. You commit when you are admitted, and the school may offer a non-binding celebratory signing form once that is done. Post COMMITTED the day your coach says it is public.
NAIA and junior colleges have no national signing day. NAIA programs use their own letter of intent and sign at any time, mostly between February and June. NJCAA colleges use their own letter and sign heavily in the spring. Your coach sets the date.
What signing day looks like online
