The calendar

The NCAA retired the National Letter of Intent in October 2024, but the signing periods did not go anywhere. Athletes now sign written offers of athletic aid on the same calendar, coaches still post the same "SIGNED" graphics, and recruiting pages still count the class the same day. If you are asking "when is signing day," the answer depends on your sport and division, and the table below has all of them.

Three dates matter most. November 11, 2026 opens the early period for every Division I and II sport except football, and for basketball's early window. December 2 to 4, 2026 is football's early period, when most Power Four classes are effectively finished. February 3, 2027 is the traditional National Signing Day for football and the regular period for the rest.

Division III has no signing periods at all; its athletes "sign" when the admission letter arrives. NAIA and junior colleges run their own agreements and mostly land in the spring.

The Process

A minute from done

01

Know your window

Find your sport and division in the table. Your coach will confirm the exact day your program signs.

02

Shoot the photo early

Get one clean action shot in the weeks before, so the post is ready the morning you sign.

03

Make the graphic

Enter your school and state, add the photo, and the SIGNED design renders in about a minute.

04

Post the same day

Signing-day posts get reposted by the program that afternoon. Post before the team announcement, not after.

Why it lands

Built for signing day

SIGNED, COMMITTED or OFFERED

Pick the headline that matches the day. Signing day gets SIGNED; the verbal months earlier gets COMMITTED.

Real school colors

The program's actual palette, so your post sits next to the team's official one without looking homemade.

Ready before the ceremony

Make it the night before. Signing days move fast and the graphic should already be in your camera roll.

One-time pack, no subscription

$14.99 for 20 finished graphics covers the offer, the commitment, signing day and senior night.

The program posts one graphic for the whole class. Yours is the one with your name at the top.

Signing periods by sport and division

All dates are for the 2026-27 signing year, for athletes enrolling in fall 2027. Windows open on the first date and, unless a closing date is listed, run until the following August 1.

What changed

The NLI is gone. Signing day is not.

In October 2024 the NCAA Division I Council eliminated the National Letter of Intent program. What replaced it is simpler: the written offer of athletic aid, which every scholarship athlete already signed alongside the NLI, now stands on its own and carries the same recruiting-ban protection once it is signed. Signing periods, the dates on which those agreements can be executed, were kept exactly as they were.

For athletes the day looks the same. You sign in the school library or at home, the program posts the class, and you post yours. The graphic that goes with it has not changed either: your photo, your new school's colors, and SIGNED across the top.

By division

Division I, II and III signing days

Division I

Nearly every D1 sport signs in the early period from November 11, and most athletes who verbally committed in the summer sign that first week. Football is the exception with its December and February windows, and basketball has a short November window plus a spring one for late decisions and reclassifications.

Division II

D2 follows the same November 11 date for most sports and the same football windows. D2 signings continue well into the spring because D2 rosters fill later; a February or April D2 signing is normal, not late.

Division III

D3 cannot offer athletic scholarships and has no signing periods. Coaches recruit you, admissions decides. The three dates that matter are Early Decision results in mid-December, Regular Decision in late March, and National College Decision Day on May 1. D3 athletes post commitment graphics on those dates, and many programs still hold a celebration signing with a ceremonial letter.

The post

What to post on signing day

The program will post a class graphic with every signee's name. Yours should be personal: one photo of you, your name and position large, the school's colors, and SIGNED. Post it the morning of, before the program's roundup, so the team account can share yours. Caption with the school, the coaches, your family and your high school, and let the recruiting pages do the rest.

If you announced with a COMMITTED graphic months ago, signing day is the second post, not a repeat. Different photo, different headline. The signing day graphics page has examples by sport, and the caption guide has lines that work.

Good to know

Questions, answered

When is National Signing Day 2027?

The regular football signing period, the traditional National Signing Day, opens February 3, 2027. The early signing period for every other Division I and II sport opens November 11, 2026, and football's early period runs December 2 to 4, 2026.

Is there still a National Letter of Intent?

No. The NCAA eliminated the NLI in October 2024. Athletes now sign written offers of athletic aid on the same signing-period calendar, and the recruiting-ban protection carries over once the offer is signed.

Does Division III have a signing day?

No. D3 has no signing periods and no athletic scholarships, so the commitment moment is the admission decision: Early Decision in mid-December, Regular Decision in late March, or Decision Day on May 1. Many D3 programs hold a ceremonial signing anyway.

Can I sign before November 11?

Not in Division I or II. Verbal commitments can happen any time, but a written offer of aid cannot be signed until the period opens. Football cannot sign until December 2.

What should I post on signing day?

A graphic with your photo, your name, the school's colors and SIGNED, posted the morning of your signing so the program can reshare it. CommitGraphics makes it from one photo in about a minute, and the same pack covers your commitment and offer posts.

The pen hits the paper. Then the post goes up.
